Here's a small list of books that I have recently found to be très impressionnant:
"Sillabario 1&2" by Goffredo Parise - one short story for each feeling
"N.P." by Banana Yoshimoto - contemporary cult from Japan
"Le città invisibili" by Italo Calvino - 55 imaginary cities
"Cat on a hot tin roof" by Tennessee Williams - contains everything about life
"La chute" by Albert Camus - don't try this at home!
"Der Richter und sein Henker" by Friedrich Dürrenmatt - uncheesy swiss crime story
